Overview
Why lino´s Protein A/G Sensor Chips?
The same functions and measurements that are possible in buffer with Protein A chips in classical refractometric sensors (SPR, Biacore); are now possible for you to do in real complex biological media. Due to our combination of Protein A and Protein G, a wide range of antibodies from different species can be bound and their interaction analyzed in a complex sample: fast, simple and automated!

Protein A chip
A sensor Protein A chip is a sensor surface pre-immobilized with a recombinant Protein A variant binding antibodies for protein interaction analysis. It offers a wide range and high convenience for the protein interaction analysis. The Protein A chip also brings the convenience of having the surface pre-immobilized and therefore ready-to-use. Those chips are generally a high-throughput method used to track the interactions and activities of proteins, and to determine their function. Large numbers of proteins can be tracked in parallel. The surface has a wide range of applications, but are mostly optimized for concentration analysis, as in biopharmaceutical process development, manufacturing, and quality control.
Lino Biotech´s
Protein A chip
Lino Biotech´s chips have the same functions and the same measurements that are possible in buffer with a Protein A chip in classical refractometric sensors (e.g. SPR or Biacore), meaning they are possible for their customers to do in real complex biological media. Due to the combination of Protein A and Protein G, a wide range of antibodies from different species can be bound and their interaction can be analyzed in a complex sample: fast, simple and automated.
Meaning, that characterizing antibodies with molographic measurements in real complex biological samples is possible, and assay performance therefore can be improved. The backfilled and self-referenced Protein A chip allows the customers to measure directly in complex samples, meaning label-free measurements, obtaining data in minutes is possible, no reference channel is needed, no sensor equilibration is needed and it is all in a cost-effective format. Due to it´s sensitivity and signal stability, the technology Molography is able to detect very small amounts of analytes, which did bind on the chip.
Alternatives
of Protein A Chip
Alternatives exist, but most show lower selectivity, affinity, as well as nonspecific adsorption and potential differences in selectivity between two antibodies. Furthermore, a Protein A chip offers significant advantages leading to overall better process economy and shorter development times for new molecules. It is therefore recommended to improve the Protein A technology, than using complementary or alternative formats. In general, protein remains one of the of methologies for capturing or isolating monoclonal antibodies from bioprocess streams. Others may have higher capacities, but issues of cost and lower sensitivity remain.
Application areas
of Protein A chip
As mentioned, a Protein A chip can be used for different applications., e.g. in concentration analysis or in affinity or kinetic analysis. Mostly, a sample or calibration solution is injected over the Protein A chip surface and the binding response then can be measured. Lino Biotech´s chip brings the convenience of having the surface pre-immobilized and ready-to-use, or they can be functionalized according to the customers need in a simple process using established conjugation techniques. With each sensor chip having 54 mologram structures, all can be functionalized in various ways, and since every mologram has its own focal point, parallel label-free multiplexing can be achieved easily. Due to a single or six-channel fluidic chamber, different sensor chip formats can be implemented via simple combinatorics.
Frequently asked questions
In short, a Protein A chip is a sensor surface pre-immobilized with a recombinant Protein A variant binding antibodies for protein interaction analysis. It offers a wide range and high convenience for the protein interaction analysis and with multiple applications possible to perform. Affinity analysis can be performed, also e.g. different concentration analysis.
They can be used for different applications and a Protein A chip can be functionalized according to the customers need or it can be purchased pre-immobilized and therefore already ready to be used directly.
The backfilled and self-referenced Protein A chip has the same functions as others that are on the market, with the addition, that they are possible in buffer, making it possible for the customers to do in real complex biological media. The interactions can be analyzed fast, simple and automated in complex samples.
