Scientific poster: Accelerating Drug Discovery with focal molography
This scientific poster, presented at the "ELRIG Drug Discovery 2025" meeting in Liverpool, UK (Oct 21-22, 2025), describes an innovative solution for the label-free detection and analysis of biomolecular interactions, offering high sensitivity, specificity, and robustness.
Understanding how biomolecules interact in their natural environment is key to developing effective therapeutics. Traditional assays rely on purified systems that fail to capture biological complexity, leading to costly setbacks later in development. Focal molography, the core technology of the MACS® Matchmaker, bridges this gap by enabling label-free, real-time analysis of biomolecular interactions directly in crude, physiological media.
Using a unique diffractive element called a mologram, focal molography offers pM sensitivity, exceptional robustness, and multiplexed kinetic measurements across 64 interactions simultaneously. From on-DNA DEL and SELEX hit validation to membrane protein characterization in living cells, this approach provides precise kinetic and affinity data even in complex samples like serum or cell cultures.
By combining optical sensitivity, simplicity, and throughput, focal molography opens new perspectives in cellular biophysics and hit validation, helping scientists reduce attrition and develop more reliable therapeutics—faster.
