Recorded at the 3rd focal Molography User Meeting on September 9, 2026, in Adliswil, Switzerland. In this 14-minute flash talk, Artem Siemens (Miltenyi Biotec) gives a view from inside Miltenyi Biotec: how nanobodies are developed together with lino Biotech and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), and how his team built a capture system to keep pace with a growing demand for binder characterization.
Topics covered
- A homodimeric capture nanobody (VHH), immobilized by DNA-directed immobilization (DDI), as an alternative to Protein A/G
- Multiplexed kinetics of Fc-based binders: immunoglobulin G (IgG), single-chain variable fragment Fc fusion (scFv-Fc) and VHH-Fc
- Pre-incubation and parallel injection to cut measurement time from four to two hours
- A 16-plex assay for 96 samples within half a day
About the speaker
Artem Siemens is Team Coordinator in the Binder Discovery Group at Miltenyi Biotec. He leads the group's cloning workflows and oversees routine affinity and kinetic analysis on MACS Matchmaker, including the development of new applications on the platform.
